It is necessary to separate Science from politics and corporate interests
There is no doubt that science was corrupted during the Covid-19 pandemic. Politicians impersonated scientists for political and economic advantage; doctors despised scientific facts and records to act as healers in order to make easy profits. The result of this attack on science was tragic, especially in Brazil, where a fascist and genocidal president took the lead in fighting the pandemic to help his friends in the pharmaceutical sector sell hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin when he sabotaged the acquisition of vaccines and boycotted the vaccination in the country causing the contamination and death of the greatest number of people.
The genocidal fascist who now occupies the presidential palace in Brasilia did his best to prevent the Brazilian population from being vaccinated. It is only now before a Parliamentary Inquiry Commission that the genocidal government of Jair Bolsonaro is beginning to approve vaccines of proven efficiency in several countries. By submission to the orders of the American empire, this genocidal government boycotted the Russian Sputnik V vaccine for as long as possible. Brazil only approved the Russian vaccine after the approval of 66 countries.
During the Covid-19 pandemic some politicians spoke as if they were scientists and some scientists spoke without any scientific evidence. This showed how Science at the beginning of the 21st century is vulnerable and lacking the means to defend itself from the political and economic interests of malicious people. Fraudulent surveys claiming that cigarette smokers are better protected against Covid-19 were reported on several media channels. This was another episode of the use of pseudoscience to serve the commercial interests of large corporations.
The corruption and misuse of science recently made me wonder how best to protect science from these attacks by politicians and bad scientists. Then the idea came to me that maybe a blockchain for science could preserve the integrity of science in the same way a blockchain preserves the integrity of a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. Bitcoin blockchain provides both value certification and ownership certification. Thus, the blockchain of science could guarantee both the certification of scientific evidence and the authorship of research scientists.
The maintenance nodes of this science blockchain would be maintained by scientific institutions around the world and in the same way that the blockchain of a cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin certifies that the POW – proof of work, which validates transactions and operations made with Bitcoins, the proof of work in this blockchain of science would validate the scientific research that would be inserted in this blockchain of science. In the same way that the Bitcoin blockchain has its protocol, the science blockchain would have its inviolable protocol, where scientific institutions could only update the science blockchain following the scientific validation protocol valid for each topic.
The science blockchain would keep all the studies carried out on a topic so far and through a specific query in this blockchain, it would be possible to find out how the entire scientific path developed so far on this topic, and then humanity would have an official reference on this topic so that if another scientist had another theory about the topic, he would have to do the proof of work according to the protocol to update the subject in question. The researches registered in the blockchain protocol would be ranked to give a weight to each of the registered scientific claims. The better ranked the research, the stronger and more accepted the scientific postulate would be.
In the same way that humanity today has Bitcoin, which has its integrity protected by its own protocol against violations and interference by governments, politicians and any other malicious person, humanity can have its blockchain with its scientific protocol that guarantees the integrity of science against its habitual violators, the politicians and the bad-scientists. If we had this blockchain to help us through these difficult days of the Covid-19 pandemic, we would not have to accept the absurd claims of politicians and pseudoscientist charlatans that only increased this tragedy.
And to further increase the tragedy of the pandemic, there was no lack of political use by the WHO – World Health Organization, which favored the approval of vaccines by Western laboratories over the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, hitherto the most efficient and safest of all vaccines . As of this writing, the Russian vaccine was not yet approved by the WHO and the Chinese CoronaVac vaccine had been approved for emergency use only. This shows that WHO is under political control of Western pharmaceutical laboratories. The Science Blockchain may in the future be used to record trials with all new vaccines to avoid the political manipulation that Western countries and Big Pharma exert on the WHO.
This short analysis presented here is an idea that may one day become a reality. But as a conclusion, I can state here that science is vulnerable and we need to have a means of protecting its integrity, because science is still and always will be a heritage of humanity.
